Community Guidelines

Hoop is where you meet new people and build real friendships. To keep it safe for everyone, especially teenagers and young adults, we’ve created a set of Community Guidelines that everyone must follow.

These rules protect the space we’re building together: one that’s respectful, inclusive, and built on trust. Our Community Guidelines include rules about violence, nudity, hate speech, fake profiles and bullying. When someone violates these guidelines, we investigate and take the appropriate action, including but not limited to sending a warning, filtering and removing content, or suspending an account.

Our Trust & Safety team reviews reports by users, moderators, automated monitoring systems, and trusted third-party partners or where required by law. We encourage our users to report any concerns to us, and our own algorithms also generate reports when they detect a possible breach of our guidelines so we can take action.

The guidelines apply to everything on Hoop: your profile, photos, private messages, and chat rooms. We update them regularly, so check back if you’re unsure.

This is your space. Let’s keep it safe together.

Hoop is built for connection, not conflict. Every person you meet here deserves to feel respected and safe — no matter who they are. Using Hoop to bully, harass, or intimidate others goes against everything we stand for.

🚫 No harassment or bullying

This includes:

• Teasing, name-calling, or repeatedly messaging someone after they’ve asked you to stop.
• Trying to embarrass, threaten, or humiliate someone.
• Encouraging others to gang up on or isolate another person.

👉 Even if you think it's just a joke if someone feels targeted or hurt, it's not okay.

🚫 No sexual harassment

We do not allow:

• Sending unwanted sexual messages, images, or audio.
• Making comments about someone’s body.
• Making others feel pressured or uncomfortable in a sexual way.

👉 Just because someone is nice to you doesn’t mean they’re okay with flirting or sexual talk.

🚫 No hate speech or discrimination

Hateful behavior includes:

• Using slurs or offensive language about someone’s race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, or disability.
• Sharing hateful symbols, slogans, or content that promotes violence or exclusion.

👉 We have zero tolerance for any form of hate — full stop.

🚫 No body shaming or attacks on appearance

This includes:

• Making mean or hurtful comments about someone’s body, weight, or looks.
• Editing photos to mock or embarrass others.
• Comparing people in a degrading way.

👉 Everyone deserves to feel confident and comfortable being themselves.

🚫 No threats or violence

This includes:

• Threatening to hurt someone — even as a “joke”.
• Encouraging violence, abuse, or self-harm.
• Glorifying mass harm events or school violence.
• Organising, promoting, or supporting violent extremism.

👉 Words matter. If it sounds dangerous or violent, it’s not welcome here.

🚫 No exploitation or predatory behavior

This includes:

• Asking for or sharing nude images (real or fake).
• Blackmailing others by threatening to leak private info or content.
• Building inappropriate relationships with minors, also known as grooming.

👉 If you’re 18+, you must never message, flirt with, or try to connect with minors. It’s illegal and will lead to a permanent ban and law enforcement action.

🚫 No sharing private or personal information (doxxing)

This includes:

• Posting someone’s real name, phone number, school, address, or social media.
• Sharing screenshots of private messages without consent.
• Threatening to expose someone’s identity or private details.

👉 Even if you’re upset, leaking someone’s private info is never okay and will result in serious action.

Protect minors

Hoop is age-gated: users under 18 will never see or interact with adults, and adults will never be shown minors. Any attempt to bypass this by lying about your age or creating fake accounts will lead to a permanent ban and will be reported to law enforcement.

We also don’t allow any sexual conduct, exploitation, or risky behavior among minors. Even if it feels consensual, it’s not allowed on Hoop.

These rules exist to protect minors and keep Hoop safe for everyone.

🚫 Adults must not contact or engage with minors and vice versa

No exceptions. That includes:

• Messaging teens (13–17) if you’re 18 or older.
• Messaging adults (+18) if you’re under 18.
• Lying about your age to interact with minors and vice versa.
• Sending flirty or suggestive messages to minors and vice versa.

👉 We take a zero-tolerance approach towards child sexual abuse and exploitation. You will be reported to law enforcement.

🚫 Adults must never exploit, pressure, or sexualise minors

That means:

• Asking a minor for their personal details or photos.
• Creating or sharing AI-generated images or videos that sexualise minors.
• Pressuring someone younger than you to do something they’re not comfortable with.

👉 This includes any synthetic, edited, or AI-generated content that sexually depicts minors. It will be reported to law enforcement — no exceptions.

🚫 If you’re an adult, never engage in sexual conduct with minors

This includes:

• Asking for or sending sexual content to anyone under 18.
• Flirting with, grooming, or building sexual relationships with minors.
• Sharing or threatening to share child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

👉 We report all cases of CSAM and grooming to authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

🚫 If you’re an adult, never share adult content with minors

This includes:

• Sending explicit messages, images, or videos to anyone under 18.
• Posting adult content in public rooms where minors are present.
• Encouraging minors to engage with sexual or explicit material.

👉 If you are 18 or older, it is your responsibility to make sure you’re not exposing minors to adult content — no exceptions.

🚫 If you’re under 18, no risky or sexual behavior

This includes:

• Sending or receiving sexual content, even with someone your age.
• Flirting or engaging in sexual conversations.
• Trying to confront or expose other users on your own.

👉 Even if it feels okay in the moment, it can still put you or others at risk — and it's not allowed.

Respect Hoop

Hoop only works when people use it honestly and responsibly. That means no fake identities, no scams, no abusing features, and no content that puts the platform or its users at risk. We built Hoop to help people connect — not to be misled, manipulated, or overwhelmed with harmful or disruptive behavior.

Treat the platform with the same respect you'd expect from others. You're in the wrong place if you're here to break the rules or game the system.

🚫 No impersonation or catfishing

Examples:

• Using fake photos to trick people.
• Pretending to be someone else, such as friends, celebrities, brands or similar.
• Creating accounts that misrepresent your gender, age, or intentions.

👉 It’s okay to use filters or edits that express your personality, but don’t use them to deceive.

🚫 No dangerous or harmful content

We don’t allow content that:

• Promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide.
• Encourages risky challenges or dangerous behavior.
• Shows or describes graphic violence or cruelty.

👉 Sharing this kind of content can trigger or seriously affect others, and it’s not allowed. If you are struggling, seek help.

🚫 No encouragement or glorification of self-harm

This includes:

• Sharing or discussing methods of self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating.
• Glorifying or romanticising self-harm or mental health struggles.
• Encouraging others to hurt themselves or suggesting they should.

👉 If you or someone else is struggling, don’t use Hoop to cope alone — seek help or support offline.

🚫 No graphic, sexual, or violent content

That means:

• No nudity, gore, or porn — even in private chats.
• No sexually explicit jokes or messages.
• No shocking or disturbing imagery meant to upset others.

👉 If it would be banned on Instagram or TikTok, it’s likely banned here too.

🚫 No misinformation or fake media

Not allowed:

• Sharing deepfakes or misleading edits.
• Posting fake screenshots, news, or quotes.
• Using AI-generated images or videos to trick people.

👉 Misleading people on purpose is not okay — even if you think it’s funny.

🚫 No Spam

This includes:

• Sending the same or similar message to lots of people.
• Spamming messages or invites to someone nonstop.
• Dropping random links without context or permission.

👉 If your messages feel robotic, copy-pasted, or annoying, they’re probably not okay.

🚫 No selling or trading

This includes:

• Selling or trading goods, services, or accounts.
• Asking for money, gifts, or anything in return for favors.
• Offering to “boost,” “promote,” or “shout out” others for cash or rewards.

👉 Hoop is for making friends, not for business.

🚫 No illegal activities or dangerous stuff

This includes:

• Selling or promoting regulated or dangerous goods such as drugs and weapons.
• Sharing or advertising contraband of any kind.
• Organising or encouraging any illegal activities such as human trafficking.

👉 If it could get someone hurt or arrested, it has no place here.

🚫 No scams or fraud

Not allowed:

• Asking people for money, even for “fun” or “challenges”.
• Promoting crypto schemes, fake giveaways, or paid “influencer” opportunities.
• Trying to get access to someone’s account or personal info through trickery.

👉 If it seems too good to be true — or if you’re hiding your real goal — it’s not allowed.

🚫 No platform abuse

This includes:

• Using bots, scripts, or emulators to speed through actions.
• Selling or trading accounts, gems, or in-app perks.
• Exploiting bugs, glitches, or loopholes to gain an advantage.

👉 Play fair. If you break the app on purpose or try to game the system, you will lose access.

🚫 No ban evasion

This includes:

• Creating a new account after being suspended or banned.
• Helping someone else get around a ban.
• Using fake accounts to continue harmful behavior.

👉 If you're banned from Hoop, you’re not welcome back — trying to return will get you removed again. If you believe your ban was a mistake, contact our Support team to appeal.

🚫 No interference with moderation

This includes:

• Trying to trick or harass moderators.
• Encouraging others to break rules or “get around” bans.
• Filing false reports to mess with someone.

👉 Our team is here to keep Hoop safe. Don’t get in the way.

Final reminders

These rules exist to keep Hoop safe, respectful, and real — for everyone.

If you break any Community Guidelines, we may permanently remove your content, limit your account, or ban you. In serious cases, especially those involving minors, threats, or sexual exploitation, we will report you to law enforcement.

We use a mix of human moderation, user reports, and detection tools to find and respond to harmful behavior. But keeping Hoop safe isn’t just our job — it’s yours, too.

If you ever feel uncomfortable or see something that breaks the rules, report it. We have your back. Remember, you're helping protect others when you speak up.

We update these guidelines regularly as the platform grows.
